Letha Marie Gipson, 88, Independence, Mo., passed away Monday, Sept. 18, 2006, at the Regency Health Care Center.
Letha was born May 20, 1918, in Kansas City, Mo., to James and Cora Marie (Warneck) Haff and has been a lifelong area resident. She had worked as a floral designer for more than 40 years for Hill's Flower Shop in Independence and for a short time at Cairn's Flowers. Letha was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Women's Air Corps (WAC) in 1943. She enjoyed working with flowers and crocheting. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She was married to Aubrey L. Gipson on Aug. 22, 1943; he died on Sept. 20, 1978. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Loyd Greene.
Her survivors include a daughter, Marie Jaenette Greene and husband, Robert, of Independence; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, Independence, 816-373-3600. Burial will be in the Mount Washington Forever Cemetery, Independence.
