First news about the Class of 1957 50 Year Reunion
October 5 -6, 2007
Bill Dawson, chairman for the Class of '57 50 Year Reunion, announced the dates
and location. The Reunion events will be held on the weekend of October 5 - 6, 2007.The traditional Saturday night dinner will be held, October 6, at the Hilton
Garden Inn, in the Blue Valley business area, east of Independence.
It will feature a sit down dinner from the Hereford House, which is attached to the hotel.
(The Class of '55 held its 50th reunion dinner there and said the food and service was great.)An Ice Breaker get together is planned for Friday, October 5. With a cash bar it will likely
start during the "Happy Hour" and run until ?. It will be held in a different room within the hotel.A group usually gets together for a round of golf on Friday morning, October 4.
If that is done this year, join in, it's great fun. More details when they are available. The WCHS 2007 Homecoming football game is scheduled for Friday night.
If you have photos of our school days, elementary, junior high or high school that would be
enjoyed by your classmates, let us know about them. They are needed to be used as part
of a slide show presentation which will be seen on a big screen TV throughout the evening(s).Also, if you have some special school days memories you'd like to share, they will be
put into a souvenir book and/or read to the gathering during the course of the evening.Additional Details Will Be Forthcoming
If you are willing to help with the reunion or have questions, contact Bill by emailing him.

First Planning Meeting
Class of '57 50 Year Reunion preliminary plans discussed.
A Special Reunion for a Special Class!!!
Record numbers of tornados, golf ball sized hail and a gully
washer couldn't stop an informal gathering at which ideas were
discussed for the class of 1957's 50 year reunion, in 2007.The possibility of holding the reunion in the autumn in conjunction
with the WCHS Homecoming Weekend was discussed. That
would put it in late September or early October which, hopefully,
would mean milder weather and less crowded traveling conditions. The idea of holding two or more events was put forth. These,
along with the usual Homecoming activities would make for a full
weekend giving ample opportunity to reunite with old friends. It was also discussed to open the reunion to graduates of other
WCHS classes, especially those from classes around ours. The Friday
night Bear Town Mixer would be a natural, as that is one thing we
shared with the classes ahead of us and those that came after us.A list of possible events is posted here for your scrutiny and input.
text in black describes WCHS Homecoming events
text in blue describes possible Class of '57 eventsRemember...These are only ideas that were discussed...not the final plans.
If the reunion was held on Homecoming Weekend it wouldn't be mandatory
to attend any of the events, any more than it is to attend the reunion at all.*** Friday
Golf: 8:30 AM to completion (not an 'official' reunion event)
"Ice Breaker" circa 4:30 - 7:00 PM
Homecoming Football Game
(Bear Town After Game?)
*** Saturday, October 5, 2007***
"Main Event" (could be with or without dinner; we'd like input) if without dinner
it would probably start a little later than previous reunion "Main Events".*** Sunday ***
Brunch or Picnic (input please)
It's likely not everyone would attend every event but if enough
people are interested in them, they'd make for a great weekend.Cost is always an important consideration by the committee. Since these
ideas were just discussed the costs of each of the events isn't known yet.
But rest assured, cost, as well as input received, will get keen consideration. To provide input via email click here or here
