Elvis on my Mind & Free Autobiography Book Download By: Theresea Hughes
The more I study the life of Elvis Presley for my website research, the more I learn about what an amazing and generous man he was. This article is just one example of his charitable Christmas spirit.
It was Christmas time, and in the local paper there was a short article about an old woman in North Memphis, it was near the area where Elvis lived while he was growing up.
The man and woman were old, black and very poor. They lived in a two- room house with only a tattered curtain dividing the rooms, in the poorest part of Memphis. The old woman had been confined to a wheelchair all her life. She had no legs and her old wheelchair had become worse from age, she wasn't able to use it anymore and left her unable to move around her home.
The story was written by a charitable woman who knew of the old lady's circumstances and decided to do what she could, and try to raise enough money to buy the old lady a new wheelchair. When Elvis read the article he turned to Marty Lacker and said, "Moon, take care of it for me. Get her a new chair."
Marty made a call to the phone number which was with the article, and asked the woman who answered the call, if she was still looking for a wheelchair for the crippled woman?
She said, "We are taking donations and will very much appreciate anything you can do." Marty then asked how much had already been raised; so far the donations received totaled a little over eighty dollars. Marty explained to the lady, he is acting on behalf of someone who would like to remain anonymous but would like to buy the old woman a new wheelchair.
The lady on the phone said, "Oh, you want to donate some money." Marty replied, "No, we want to buy a new chair for her. You take the money that has been raised and give to her. We'll get the wheelchair. "The lady seemed to be unsure about the caller, until Marty asked for the old woman's address and reassuring her that they would get the old woman her chair, she then seemed satisfied this call was genuine.
She said to Marty, "You are very kind," then she offered to pick up the wheelchair and send the bill on to them, he said, no, ma'am. "We will pick the chair up and personally deliver it, there is somebody who wants to do this for the old lady." "God will surely bless you and your friend." She replied.
After getting the elderly woman's address Marty made another call to a hospital supply company in Memphis, where Marty and one of the other guys found a really nice electric, automatic wheelchair and bought it, put it in the trunk of the car and went back to Graceland to show Elvis the chair before they delivered it to the old woman.
When they got to Graceland, Elvis and Priscilla were dressed to go out. Marty asked Elvis if he wanted to see the wheelchair before taking to the woman, Elvis answered "Priscilla and I are both going with you."
Elvis, Priscilla and Marty got into one car and two of the guys followed in a second car, using the second car was normal procedure for security, or in case anything happened to the car Elvis was traveling in. They drove to one of the poorest neighborhoods in Memphis. It was the pits, and they all wondered how people were living like that and yet, most of the guys had begun their lives in little better conditions.
Marty went to the door making sure they were at the right address; an old man let him in. It was a shock to see what these people lived in, he noticed the newspapers, which were there to try and stop the wind from coming in the windows, there was an old wood stove in the middle of the floor.
It was the poorest place Marty had ever seen, and the shocking fact was this place was in the city. It was a run down shack, not a house.
Marty explained to the old man three or four times why he was in the neighborhood, even then it's not certain the old man understood. Then Marty saw the old woman sitting on a wooden chair in the other room, he then told the man he would be right back.
While outside, he told Elvis the old lady was in the house and got the other guys to put the wheelchair together. Elvis carried the chair into the house, with Priscilla, Marty and the others following.
Tears welled in everyone's eyes at the sight of these dear old people during such poverty. Elvis went to the lady and said, "Hello, I came to give you this chair as a gift for Christmas".
The dear old woman didn't understand why this white man was in her home to giving her a new wheelchair. She kept looking at the chair and Elvis while he explained and showed her how it should be operated.
Suddenly she seemed to understand this wheelchair is truly a gift to her, then she tried her hardest to get off the wooden chair to her new chair wheelchair, but she struggled and was unable to do so. Elvis then gently picked her up and carefully placed her in her new chair.
As her tears began flowing from her old eyes she cried, "Praise God! God bless you!" The moment was filled with genuine emotions, with Elvis on one side and Priscilla on the other, sharing this "happy sadness" moment with the old lady.
Even the tough members of the Memphis Mafia couldn't control the powerful emotions floating in the room; each of the guys came forward and put their arms around the old lady and clasped the old man's weak hand.
The general feeling that surfaced from this special visit was the love felt for the elderly couple, Priscilla and all that were present, but most of all they truly loved Elvis and the sincerity with which he gave his true gift, himself.
Before leaving the couple, Elvis turned to Marty and said, "Look at the way they're living," each person involved in the experience felt thankful for what they had. Elvis then asked Marty to give him a couple of hundred dollars; Elvis then placed two one-hundred-dollar notes in the old woman's hand wishing her a Merry Christmas.
Elvis gently kissed her, then turned and walked out...

Some people desire enough of a tan for just one occasion such as an evening out. Some people look at all options available in sunless tanning products and decide to tan the old-fashioned way, after all. For those who opt for a traditional, sun-induced tan, caution and protective measures are recommended.
Currently, sunless tanning spray can be found at high-end salons or spas and can anywhere from $25 per session to up to $100 for a few one-hour sessions. Sunless tanning spray contains dihydroxyacetone (DHA). DHA is applied in a fine mist to the entire body of the customer. DHA reacts with dead skin cells on the surface of the body, causing them to turn brown. Most tanners who use the spray method report good, realistic results and excellent coverage. The spray on tans last five to seven days, typically.
Sunless tanning spray is either water or oil based. The former is recommended for people with sensitive skin. The FDA has approved DHA as safe since the 1970s. It is colorless -- the color change in tanners' skin is chemical -- but may at first emit a slight odor, which should disappear after showering. It will not stain clothing.
Sunless tanning spray is not recommended for people with dry and flaky skin or for people with very fair skin. In the case of those with dry skin, a spray tan may end up looking patchy, due to the accelerated shedding of dead skin cells. For those with fair skin, the tan may end up looking too dark or otherwise awkward.
Moisturizing can optimize the life of a spray tan. Other preparations to take are to exfoliate before having sunless tanning spray applied, avoiding showering for at least four hours before the tanning session, and avoiding physical activity for a short while after the spray tan is applied. The better precautions are taken and the more diligently aftercare is pursued, the better the results of a spray tan will be.
Sunless Tanning Info provides detailed information about sunless tanning lotion, booths, sprays, salons, and pills, as well as reviews of best sunless tanning products and methods. Sunless Tanning Info is the sister site of Tanning Beds Web.

Retrevo publishes annual report on HDTV and March Madness that recommends best LCD TVs and Plasma TVs for watching this years college basketball playoffs.
It's that time of year again; sixty five men's college basketball teams in four regions around the country begin playing on March 20th. The women's teams start their playoffs on March 23rd. By April 5th it's down to the final four with the championship game played on April 7th.
Is this going to be the year that sports fans watch the games in HDTV? Andrew Eisner, director of content at Retrevo says, "There's still plenty of time to use Retrevo to help select the best value in HDTV , find an HD provider, install a set, and sit back and enjoy the games."
Who's Broadcasting in High Definition?
Starting this year CBS will broadcast all games in the men's tournament in High Definition. If a TV set can receive CBS HDTV over the air or via cable it should be in good shape. For the women's games, fans will have to get ESPN which will be broadcasting many games in HD.
DirecTV offers a 'Mega March Madness' package for $69 but only broadcasts 'select games,' in HD. DirecTV is also not allowed to broadcast games available on local stations and uses the subscriber's zip code to black out those games.
The Right TVs for Fast Action Sports
Basketball can be very demanding for HDTV. A fast moving foreground (the action on the court) against a complex background (people in the stands) make it is challenging to compress, decompress, and difficult to display without artifacts and blurring.
The very latest LCD TV sets that offer features like MEMC (motion estimation, motion compensation), 120 Hz refresh, and fast pixel response can help minimize problems. Sets with these features are just starting to show up and may cost a few dollars more.
Higher End LCD and Plasma TVs
For a little more money, Retrevo recommends taking a look at the brand new 40 inch Samsung LN-T4081 which is the first LED backlit LCD TV to hit the market and costs around $2500. The Sony BRAVIA KDL-52XBR5 52 inch LCD offers 120 Hz refresh and 1080p and goes for around $3200. The Toshiba 46lX177 offers 120 Hz refresh in a 46 inch LCD TV that gets mostly good reviews and is priced at $2400.
Plasma TVs
The 50 inch Panasonic TH-50PZ700U is a highly rated Plasma TV that will cost you around $2500. This is the Plasma TV that Consumer Reports said was the 'best flat screen ever tested.'
Pioneer dominates the Plasma TV market. The Pioneer PDP-5010 is part of their new KURO line that features 1080p resolution, 4 HDMI ports, and anti-glare treatment. The Pioneer PDP-5010 will cost you around $3200 but received high marks from reviewers for great black levels and colors reproduction.
Good Values in HDTV
Rear Projection TVs still offer some of the best values. They continue to fall behind LCD and Plasma TVs in image quality, viewing angle, and they are much bulkier than flat panel sets. Toshiba sells a 72 inch RPTV that displays 1080p and can be purchased for a very reasonable $2000. Mitsubishi offers a 65 inch RPTV the WD-65731 for well under $2000.
Syntax Olevia Dominates Value List
Out of the top 10 values on Retrevo.com in LCD TVs, three are Syntax Olevia. They are all 720p/1080i but then again all the games will be in either 1080i from CBS or 720p from ESPN. In fact, pretty much the only reason to get 1080p aside from future-proofing your purchase is to play 1080p Blu-ray DVDs or 1080p games on consoles like the Sony PlayStation 3. Otherwise all programming is currently in 1080i or 720p.
The Syntax Olevia 242T is a 42 inch LCD TV that gets very high ratings and good reviews and can be purchased for a little over $700. Syntax has a brand new 1080p version called the 242T FHD that features fast pixel response and motion processing and sells for under $1000. Syntax Olevia recently started selling a 52 inch LCD TV, the 252TFHD with features to handle fast action sports. It's selling for under $2000.
Vizio has a 47 inch 1080p LCD TV, the Vizio GV47LFHDTV that you can buy for a little over $1000. The 42 inch version, the Vizio VU42LF, gets better reviews than the 47 inch version and can be purchased for well und $1000.
Going Digital
Many consumers will face the decision of what to do with their old analog based TV sets when the digital transitions takes place next year. Many will decide to buy a converter box or replace the set or even both. Retrevo has a report covering everything consumers need to know about the coming analog to digital switch over.
Retrevo For All Consumer Electronics
Retrevo is a great resource for all gadget and gear needs from manuals to reviews whether it's GPS, Digital Cameras, Camcorders, HDTV, or other popular consumer electronics products.

Easter is on its way and it is time now to start preparing ourselves. Easter is celebrated a bit differently by people around the world, and in fact there are many who do not recognize Easter. But for those of us in America Easter is a time for celebration. Many of us look forward to a large meal on that special Sunday while others like to approach Easter in a faith-based recognition of the holiday's true meaning. But needless to say everyone starts to think about candy around this time of year. Its true, candy is a staple around American's homes come Easter time.
Easter comes in right behind Halloween for candy purchasing. We consume around 8 billion pounds of candy a year in our country, and Easter time generates a significant amount candy purchasing.
Every year the markets swell with beautiful pastel and chocolate candies displayed to tempt the heartiest of saints. Store shelves are filled with colorful Jelly Beans, chocolate bunnies, chicks, and eggs, as well as those adorable little Marshmallow Peeps. By the way, reports say that in "1957 it took 27 hours to make a Peep and today it only takes 6 minutes." M&M's now come in lovely spring pastels rather than the usual reds, greens, and browns to help us celebrate Easter.
The candy celebrations at Easter feel like they have been around forever, but it appears that is not the case. There are some treats that popped up in Europe that could have lead to our sweet tooth around Easter each year. An English tradition of hot cross buns for breakfast on Good Friday could very well be the original Easter treat. Many Europeans also enjoyed baked pretzels as a special treat around Easter. In the 1800s chocolate became more readily available in Europe and boom, there you have it, the start of Easter candy madness. Chocolate could be made in all kinds of shapes and sizes, most importantly an egg shape, and thus became hugely popular, especially to those with a sweet tooth.
And so, we celebrate the Easter season with all its symbolism, both Christian and pagan. We remember our family traditions and gatherings. For many it is a time of religious reflection and for some it is more secular in character. We celebrate with Easter bunnies and chocolate eggs. We give and get baskets full of grass and sweets. We watch our little ones rise on Easter morning with awe on their faces and delight in their eyes, and we know once more a sugar induced wild spree is on the horizon. Oh, well, sit down and enjoy one more Peep before you start the day. It's Easter!

Indoor tanning beds are popular cosmetic tanning devices that use several fluorescent bulbs to expose the skin to ultraviolet rays, similar to the light emitted from the sun, all year around.
Indoor tanning beds are championed by tan lovers for their trademark ultraviolet/UVB control, and limited exposure times, while the sun emits unlimited exposure to it's rays. The levels of ultraviolet rays released by indoor tanning beds are higher than those produced by the sun. The infrared heat associated with indoor tanning beds has been linked to deep muscle pain relief. Indoor tanning beds offer various maximum exposure times, typically ranging from five to forty-five minutes. Most beds may be used for twenty minutes at a time. All indoor tanning beds are required to feature "Recommended Exposure Schedules," either on the front of the tanning bed or in the Owner's Manuel. Manufacturers suggest adhering to recommended guidelines on exposure while using indoor tanning beds. Most users achieve the optimum desired tan within seven to ten sessions. One to two weekly sessions are recommended to achieve a continuous tan courtesy of an indoor tanning bed.
Indoor tanning beds do not provide a tan as deep as the one provided by the sun. Tanners are recommended not to tan indoors and outdoors on the same day. People with a dark indoor tan are at an increased risk for going outside and suffering a severe sunburn because the deeper levels of the skin may not have been properly exposed. Such overexposure to UV rays can destroy the level of melanin in the skin.
The indoor tanning bed process begins with three to five minute exposure to the lamps of the bed, followed by twenty minute bed sessions over the course of three to four weeks. Many states have enacted regulations requiring a forty-eight hour waiting period between indoor tanning sessions due to the affiliation between tanning and the risk of developing skin cancer. The majority of such states require timing mechanisms located outside the tanning bed room to prevent users from unintentional overexposure.
Tanning lamps, or tanning lamps as they are also called, are the major component in indoor tanning beds. In addition to listing an exposure schedule, tanning beds must also make note of the lamps certified for use on the unit. Owners of commercial indoor tanning beds, like tanning salon owners, must replace tanning lamps with the exact same lamp or an equivalent lamp certified by the bed's manufacturer. Tanning lamp replacement and tanning salon replacement compliance is state regulated in the United States.
From the time of their introduction in 1978 until 1988, indoor tanning beds were not subjected to any government regulations. The 21 CFR 1040.20 federal law was the first regulatory act placed on indoor tanning beds. The law was created to ensure that tanning beds and tanning salons adhere to a set of skin cancer prevention guidelines. Creating these health guidelines is left up to the individual states.

If you ask most kids today what “Easter Eggs” are, they’ll probably tell you that they’re undocumented features found in computer games and DVD’s. Of course, when it comes to the history of Easter gifts, it refers to brightly-colored eggs. The egg tradition associated with Easter is an old one, predating the arrival of Christianity in Europe. It has long been a fertility symbol in many cultures.
One the other hand, Easter – which in the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches is considered the main observance of the liturgical year – has a close connection with the Jewish holiday of Passover, or Pesach, which celebrates the exodus of the Hebrews from Egypt. During the traditional seder meal, hard-boiled eggs flavored with salt water are eaten. (In fact, the “Last Supper” was actually a Passover celebration.)
Colored eggs are also part of traditional Easter gift baskets, and many of these are works of art. In Russia, Ukraine, the Czech Republic and other Slavic-speaking countries, Easter eggs are painstakingly painted with highly elaborate geometrical patterns in vivid, contrasting colors such as brilliant whites, reds and yellows against black dark maroon and deep blue. This decoration method is known as pisanka.
In Iran, colored eggs have been part of the Persian New Year celebration of Nowruz for over 3,000 years. Nowruz coincides with the spring equinox.
It nearly all of these cultures, the egg represents dormant life waiting to be born – a fitting metaphor for Spring, and for Christians, symbolic of the resurrection of the founder of their faith, Yeshua ben-Yosef, or Iesus Christos as he was named in Greek.
In the Roman Catholic Church, Easter also marks the end of a forty-six day period of fasting and privation known as Lent. During Lent, it was traditional to give up eating animal flesh and/or dairy products as well as eggs. Of course, one’s chickens didn’t stop laying during that time, so it was common to boil them in order to preserve them and avoid wasting food. Hard boiled eggs are an ingredient in many traditional Easter dishes, such as hornazo, a savory pork-and-egg pie eaten in Spain.
Today, eggs are often as not made from chocolate and are a welcome part of children’s Easter baskets. If you are in Scotland during the Easter season, you might even be able to get your chocolate Easter egg deep fried from a fish-and-chips establishment!
Other Easter egg traditions include numerous games, such as the Easter egg roll, a speed contest in which hard-boiled eggs are pushed along with a spoon; rolling eggs down steep slopes; and of course, the ever-popular Easter egg hunt. It’s possible nowadays to get “beeping” Easter eggs that allow children with visual impairments to join in the fun, as well.
Anne Harvester is a homemaker extraordinaire with years of experience creating spectacular events and gifts. See her favorite Gift baskets, Easter gift baskets, Childrens Easter gifts.

Seasonal Affective Disorder: Signs and Possible Lighting Solutions By Anne Clarke
The symptoms of SAD that you will experience if you are in fact, affected by the disease, will occur annually every winter—as soon as the days grow shorter and the dark hours increase. Depending on where you live, symptoms will begin approximately between late September and last up to the end of April.
The following are some of the telltale symptoms of SAD:
1)Trouble Sleeping:
Very often the patient or affected individual will suffer from a persistent desire to sleep and will have difficulty staying awake at all. However, despite taking naps, if the patient or affected individual does take naps, he or she will also suffer from extreme fatigue. This is because often the patient or affected individual will experience very interrupted sleep, with many moments of wakefulness breaking up his or her sleep cycle. Often this symptom will be accompanied waking very early in the mornings.
2) Lethargic state of mind:
There is in many cases, in addition to the fatigue, a sufferer may also exhibit signs of having trouble carrying out his or her obligations. The daily routine of the individual will be disrupted by a lack of desire to do anything, he or she may feel a bit guilty because of their unexplained unproductive nature, but this is typically ignored as a result of the illness.
SAD, if the case is extreme enough, has cost people their jobs and affected their families as well.
·3) Depression:
The patient or affected individual will experience depression. This is the very most common symptom of SAD. Especially feelings of guilt, low self-image, hopelessness and misery, or the depression can take a different route and numb him or her completely, the apathetic state of depression can be very destructive as well.
·4) Overeating:
Overeating is a very common symptom of SAD. The affected individual experiences cravings, primarily for foods containing sugars and other forms of carbohydrates, this usually results in weight gain and can therefore perpetuate the symptom of depression.
·5) Anxiety:
a)Social anxiety:
The sufferer often tends to avoid social contact with almost anyone, they also experience irritability and frustration concerning social situations.
b)General anxiety:
Inability to cope with stress, (often stress relating to problems perpetuated by apathy and inability to perform everyday tasks), by loss of libido, and decreased physical contact with anyone, even his or her significant other.
On the flip side, the sufferer will often experience short periods of what is called hypomania, which means over-activity during the spring and summer. However, this kind of anxiety (if you would call it that) vanishes in the spring along with all of the other symptoms of SAD.
In the category of sub-syndromal SAD, symptoms such as tiredness, lethargy, sleep and eating problems occur, but depression and anxiety are absent or mild. So just because you do not demonstrate all of these symptoms, you could still be a victim of Seasonal Affective Disorder.
The good news is that there are lights and lamps that will help with your SAD significantly without the use of drugs or therapy. There are many such lamps and kinds of lighting to choose from. And it is absolutely worthwhile if you actually do have this unpleasant illness.

(Seasonal Affective Disorder - Seasonal Depression & the Winter Blues).
The change in light exposure is the key to treating S.A.D. As your light exposure decreases in the fall and winter, the general consensus of the experts is that these changes in light exposure affect the body's natural rhythm and chemistry and induce Seasonal Affective Disorder. When S.A.D. lamp - Light Therapy Box is introduced, the majority of us will experience relief from S.A.D.
The WinterBright S.A.D. Lamp is perhaps the only fully EMF shielded light box on the market today. Behind it's highly dispersive virtually glare free dimpled lens is a fully grounded wire screen to shield the user from any stray electric fields developed by the light bulbs and internal electronics.

Some people say that the tradition of giving Easter eggs began with the Chinese, who gave eggs as gifts in the celebration of spring. Regardless of its origin, there is no question that most people prefer chocolate Easter eggs today.

Easter Crown Bread is a traditional European Easter sweet bread that's plaited into a rope, formed into a ring and studded with eggs. The bread derives its name from Christ's crown of thorns as the shape of the bread with its egg decorations sticking out resembles the thorn crown. Though the eggs are also the symbol of hope and re-birth.
This is very decorative bread and makes a wonderful centrepiece for an Easter table. It can then be consumed with coffee or a sweet wine on Easter Sunday evening.
Note that you need five raw eggs for this recipe. The shells should be coloured before inserting them into the plaits of the bread.
Easter Crown Bread
Ingredients
650 to 700g plain flour (divided use)
50g granulated sugar
1 packet active dry yeast
1 teaspoon salt
160ml warm milk
2 tbsp softened butter or margarine
2 eggs
90g chopped, mixed, candied fruit
50g chopped, blanched, almonds
1/2 tsp anise seed
5 uncooked eggs
Non-toxic egg coloring
Vegetable oil
In a large mixing bowl, combine 200g of the flour with the sugar, yeast, and salt. Add the milk and butter and beat with an electric mixer for 2 minutes on medium speed. Then add the eggs and 100g flour and beat on high for 2 minutes. Stir-in the fruit, nuts, and anise seed, mixing well. Then stir in enough of the remaining flour to form a soft dough. Turn this out onto a lightly-floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic (about 6 to 8 minutes). Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover with a damp cloth and leave to rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
About 30 minutes before the dough has finished rising, color the 5 eggs (leave them uncooked) with non-toxic dyes. When dry, lightly rub them with vegetable oil.
Knock back the risen dough and divide in half. Roll each half into a 24-inch rope. On a greased baking sheet, loosely twist the two ropes together then shape into a ring and pinch the ends together. Gently split the ropes and tuck the 5 colored uncooked eggs into the openings. Cover and let rise again until doubled in size (about 30 minutes). Bake in an oven pre-heated to 180°C for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown. Remove from the baking sheet and allow to cool on a wire rack.
It is time that this very traditional form of Easter bread re-gained its rightful place of prominence on the Easter table.
